- EXPLORE FURTHER: Dark immigration statistic Anthony Albanese wishes you wouldn’t notice
Ben Fordham has urged Prime Minister Anthony Albanese To emulate the approach taken by the UK and limit the influx of immigrants coming into Australia.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the UK faces the danger of 'turning into an isolated nation of unfamiliar faces' as his administration introduced various measures intended to decrease the number of immigrants.
The suggested legislation would mandate that foreigners must wait for 10 years rather than five before they can apply for residency. Additionally, the criteria for English proficiency will be more stringent for new arrivals, and the skill standards for individuals seeking a work visa will also be broadened.
In the previous year, the UK welcomed approximately 1.2 million migrants, whereas during the 2023-24 fiscal year, Australia admitted around 670,000 immigrants.
'About twenty-five years ago, there were more births in Australia than immigrants entering the country. Today, the ratio has flipped to four times as many arrivals compared to births,' Fordham stated.
'That represents a significant change. When you look at our population growth compared to the global trend, Australia’s figures stand out dramatically.'
Fordham stated that Mr Albanese must fulfill his commitment to lower immigration figures due to the escalating housing crisis in Australia.
"He assured us he would reduce the figures. We intend to keep him true to his word," he stated. "We find ourselves amidst a severe housing crisis, and simultaneously, we are welcoming nearly two thousand individuals daily. Therefore, it isn’t unwarranted to suggest 'let’s slow this pace'," he explained.

Fordham subsequently targeted one of Australia’s wealthiest individuals, Harry Triguboff, charging him with promoting high levels of immigration to boost his personal profits.
"The wealthy real estate developer Harry Triguboff claims that we require increased immigration," the radio host informed their audience.
Mr Triguboff thinks Australia’s population will reach 55 million by 2050, however, he states that if he could decide, he would aim for 100 million.
'Harry simply aims to sell more units.'
Mr Triguboff said in Mark Bouris' podcastStraight Talklast year, "We require additional migration since without immigrants, it becomes extremely challenging [to construct]".
The nation's fourth wealthiest individual cautioned that Australia faces potential ruin because of its growing elderly demographic unless immigration rates are boosted and supported a varied immigration strategy that includes people from numerous different origins.
"Life is tough in many parts of the globe, and everyone wishes to move here. They don’t intend to harm us; they simply desire to reside here. It’s an excellent place to live," he stated.
In late 2023, immigration to Australia hit peak figures with nearly 550,000 foreign nationals entering the nation.
The Treasury Budget documents predict that net overseas migration will drop to 335,000 for the period of 2024-25, then decrease further to 260,000 in the following year, which is 2025-26.
In the May 2024 Budget, Treasury had initially underpredicted population growth. Later, in December, they updated their projections for the current fiscal year, estimating an influx of 340,000 migrants—up from the previously forecasted 260,000 just seven months prior.
