Rain Bomb Breaks Century-Old Record: Floods Engulf Towns as Residents Brace for Evacuation

An unrelenting downpour is causing widespread destruction throughout the area. NSW coast.

The NSW State Emergency Service responded to over 890 emergencies within the 24-hour period leading up to Wednesday morning.

The number encompassed a minimum of 118 water rescue operations. Multiple inundated communities are expected to face continuous rainfall over the next two to three days due to a persistent low-pressure system lingering close to shore.

Authorities have released 12 emergency-level warnings for areas including the Mid North Coast and Hunter regions. Parts of Taree, Wingham and Glenthorne are seeing the worst of the floods.
