In Mumbai, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis instructed the finance department on Thursday to allocate ₹54,354 crores needed for acquiring land for eleven infrastructural projects across the state. During a review meeting held at his official residence called Varsha, Fadnavis emphasized that deadlines have been set for each agency involved in the land acquisition process. He also highlighted that delays in executing these projects result in significant increases in their overall costs.
He conducted an extensive examination of land acquisitions for various road initiatives such as the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Highway, the Virar-Alibaug multimodal corridor, the Jalna-Nanded Expressway, along with sections of the Pune Ring Road like its Eastern part, Western segment, and extension projects.
Fadnavis stated that the Shaktipeeth Highway project should be designed in a way that minimizes damage to forests. He instructed the finance department to allocate Rs 12,000 crores for acquiring land needed for this highway construction. Noting that there is forested area including mangroves between Morbe and Karanja along the Virar-Alibaug corridor, he emphasized that permission procedures must begin promptly. Additionally, Fadnavis requested a proposal to incorporate the Vadhan-Igatpuri Expressway into the Sagarmala initiative.
The land acquisition for the Jalna-Nanded Expressway in Selu, Parbhani district, must be finished within 15 days as directed by Fadnavis.
Fadnavis instructed that the designs for all expressways in Vidarbha, including Bhandara-Gadchiroli, Nagpur-Chandrapur, and Nagpur-Gondiya, should be finalized promptly.
