Kajol Opens Up About Working With Ajay Devgn in "Maa": "My Husband Harassed Me, But Also Said I'm Lucky to Be Nysa's Friend"

Kajol is ready to make her comeback on the big screen with an unprecedented look in "Maa," a mythological horror film helmed by director Vishal Furia. The project will be produced by her spouse, Ajay Devgn, through their production company, Devgn Films. The cinematic release is scheduled for June 27th at theaters near you.

While promoting the movie, Kajol spoke candidly about collaborating with Ajay Devgn professionally, as only she can do—with her signature wit and humor.

“What should I say about this producer? Mujhe bohot harass aur tang kiya hai isne (He harassed me a lot). No one will believe it,” Kajol said in a chat with Bollywood Hungama, bursting into laughter.

She swiftly interjected with a solemn expression, "No. He was indeed an exceptional producer. I must acknowledge that much."

Kajol recalls Ajay Devgn’s perspective on gender roles

During their chat, Kajol revealed a private instance of her husband expressing deep appreciation for her capability to manage multiple responsibilities as a woman. She recounted an earlier discussion where he acknowledged this aspect about her.

“My husband Ajay ji once told me, ‘You are so lucky. You don’t know how lucky you are. You can become Nysa’s friend. You will eventually become a grandmother. You are a mother. You have been my wife. You have managed all of these roles nicely and naturally. You didn’t have to make an effort.’”

She went on, "Now, being a man, I must strive to embody all these qualities. Women are groomed for this from their early days. They are incredibly adaptive."

Mother offers myths, thrills, and a strong maternal relationship.

The trailer for "Maa" has already generated curiosity. It features Kajol in a strong part as a mother who will stop at nothing to safeguard her daughter from a malevolent supernatural presence. Initially presented as just another journey, the story takes a dark turn when an unidentified entity assaults their vehicle, leading them into the unsettling town of Chandanpur.

Over there, Kajol portrays a character who discovers a malevolent tree linked to multiple vanishings. When the locals plan to offer her daughter as a sacrificial victim to break the curse, she decides not to yield—confronting destiny head-on in an effort to rescue her offspring.

The movie also features Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Surjyasikha Das.
