Man United Star Pens New Deal Just Weeks Before Contract Expiry

A Manchester United The star has reportedly verbally committed to a new deal that will secure his presence at the club well into his 40s.

The Red Devils aim to revamp their team this summer following a disappointing season that resulted in them finishing 15th. Premier League under Ruben Amorim .

And it seems they have secured one member of that squad for at least another year; however, this individual isn't crucial to the playing lineup.

Tom Heaton, who has served as one of the club’s backup goalkeepers since his return in 2021, reportedly has The Sun , has orally committed to a new agreement that ensures he'll stay at Old Trafford past his 40th birthday.

Heaton progressed through United’s academy after initially signing with them from Wrexham in 2002 at a young age before eventually moving into the first team.

However, he never really participated in an official match with the team and left in 2010 to sign with Cardiff City instead.

The individual, who was 39 years old at the time, previously represented clubs such as Bristol City and Aston Villa prior to returning to Manchester United. However, they are best known for their stint with Burnley where they played an impressive 200 matches from 2013 to 2019.

On Monday, United let go of 10 players; however, they mentioned being in talks with Heaton regarding a potential new deal.

The club mentioned that Heaton was ‘added to the list of free transfers; nonetheless, they are still in talks with the goalkeeper regarding a new contract that could keep him as part of their team for the 2025/26 season.

Similar to Jonny Evans, Heaton is an Academy alumnus who returned to the club in 2021 for his second stint here. Since coming back, he has made three first-team appearances and remains a key member both within the goalkeeper lineup and throughout the broader team roster.
