Michael Cera Declines Harry Potter Role

Michael Cera has disclosed that he previously 'rejected' an offer to appear in the Harry Potter franchise.

The actor launched his career as a youngster in the 1990s, then gained prominence with his part as George Michael Bluth in "Arrested Development."

He went on To appear in a series of films including Barbie , Superbad, Juno, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.

In the most recent episode of the show, during their appearance, Louis Theroux In the podcast, the 37-year-old discussed his career journey and explained why he was concerned about getting too popular.

If queried about potentially taking part in "Mission: Impossible," considering his previous collaboration with Tom Cruise during the MTV Movie Awards, the dad-of-two discussed why he hasn't joined a blockbuster series yet.

Well, I believe I don't possess a franchise resistance," he explained to the host. "I understand what you're getting at. I declined one.

'It was a Harry Potter movie. The one called 'Fantastic Beasts.' I'm not sure if I was actually invited, but I think I simply chose not to participate because it likely required a commitment of around six years or so.

'Additionally, as we discussed earlier, I deliberately chose to restrict my exposure somewhat or at least gain better control over it. This was particularly evident in my selection of children’s movies.'

'I harbored a significant apprehension about engaging in activities that could make me excessively renowned. I believe this sentiment has shifted somewhat. I feel like I've matured past that specific emotion, though I reckon that was how I felt back then.'

He did not specify which portion was declined, however, the prequel spin-off series led to three movies — the 2016 release "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," followed by "The Crimes of Grindelwald" in 2018, and "The Secrets of Dumbledore" in 2022.

Eddie Redmayne took the lead in the trilogy of films, sharing screen time with Jon Voight, Jude Law, Colin Farrell, Johnny Depp, Mads Mikkelsen, and Zoe Kravitz throughout.

Even though he grew up in the public eye, Michael has made efforts to maintain his privacy more closely in recent years.

He has remained tight-lipped regarding his spouse Nadine and their expanding brood, with Amy Schumer sharing that they had welcomed their firstborn in 2022—half a year following the baby's birth.

He announced last year that he became a dad for the second time when he was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Talking about how fatherhood altered his priorities, he once shared with the Hollywood Reporter: "The only impact has been that I now wish to spend as much time with my children as possible."

'When I turned 20, I would have preferred heading out to some strange city and staying in a hotel for three months. But once you have children, you desire being with your family and end up missing them quite a bit.'
