NBA: Suns Narrow Down Coaching Search to Final Two Contenders

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns have narrowed down their coaching hunt to two finalists, with Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coaches Johnnie Bryant and Jordan Ott advancing to the next round, according to an individual privy to the selection process on Monday.

The Suns are searching for their fourth coach in as many seasons following this one. firing Mike Budenholzer Following a disappointing 36-46 season that concluded without a playoff appearance.

Bryant and Ott are anticipated to have a meeting with the Suns management later this week.

The 39-year-old Bryant has spent over ten years in the NBA, initially serving as an assistant with the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks. In 2024, he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as their associate head coach. Prior to his coaching career, Bryant played basketball during his time at the University of Utah.

The 40-year-old Ott has been associated with several teams including the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Cavaliers throughout his career. Additionally, he served as a video coordinator under coach Tom Izzo at Michigan State University, where current Suns owner Mat Ishbia was a walk-on player from 1999 to 2003.
