PBA: June Mar Fajardo's Calf Exam After Painful Game 1 Setback

SCHEDULE: Semifinals of the 2025 PBA Philippine Cup

MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel’s star player June Mar Fajardo is scheduled for examinations on his calf following San Miguel's Game 1 defeat against Ginebra in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

During the final moments of the Gin Kings' 73-71 victory against San Miguel Beer, Fajardo could be spotted at times wincing in discomfort while clutching his right calf.

Before departing from the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday evening, Fajardo informed journalists that he needed an examination to determine the cause of his discomfort during much of the second half.

"This is quite a lengthy series. Fingers crossed, though, as I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow, so we'll find out then," stated Fajardo. "It does hurt, but I remain optimistic that it's not something severe," he further commented.

Even with a sore calf, Fajardo still took part in 33 minutes of play for the Beermen, however, his discomfort showed clearly in his performance as he managed just six points with a poor 30 percent field goal accuracy.

Nevertheless, the current MVP still managed to secure 19 rebounds.

However, what pained Fajardo even more was the reality that he had the chance to secure the victory for the Beermen’s team.

During the final moments of the match, Fajardo found himself with an opportunity inside the painted area but was thwarted by Japeth Aguilar’s defense, sealing the outcome.

"Pity... We'll recover and come back strong in the following match. It’s a lengthy series," stated the Gilas Pilipinas powerhouse player.

The Beermen aim to still benefit from Fajardo’s presence as they attempt to even out the series at 1-1 during Game 2 this Friday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
