If someone had been told that when Everly the pit bull headed to the park, she would end up with a new tiny companion by the time they left, they probably wouldn’t have believed it.
Everly, a Pitbull From North Carolina, began her life on a fighting dog farm before finding warmth and love in her new home with Joy.
Even though Everly had a rough beginning, she turned out to be quite sociable and loving, showing these traits during a particular visit to the park.
Orphaned cub
Joy had brought Everly along with her walk When they stumbled upon a small solitary squirrel kit, Everly couldn't help but give the creature a gentle, inquisitive sniff.
Joy was delighted to observe how smoothly her dog got along with the tiny squirrel, but she became concerned when she noticed that the squirrel appeared to be without its mother around. As they prepared to exit the park, the young squirrel showed interest in accompanying them and trailed all the way back to their house.

Gentle giant
In the following days, Everly and the little squirrel were inseparable, doing everything together. Joy shared photos of the unlikely friendship on Instagram. On one post of Everly and the squirrel snoozing together, Joy wrote: “ Forget social distancing…I'm all for social naps. .”
It seemed as though Everly had naturally assumed the role of mother to the tiny squirrel.
However, Joy always remembered that squirrels were wild creatures and might transmit illnesses dangerous to canines. She brought the squirrel to a wildlife center where it would be cared for with other squirrels. Once they are prepared, they will all be set free back into the forest together.
