
Netflix Fans are grieving following the unexpected cancellation of one of the streaming platform’s acclaimed series, *The Residence*, leaving many surprised and disappointed.
The eight-episode murder-mystery series Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba portrayed Detective Cordelia Cupp, who sets out to uncover the truth behind a murder investigation at... the White House .
Since its release in March, the show has received widespread acclaim from fans for its distinctive style and offbeat ensemble of characters, featuring none other than a renowned music legend. Kylie Minogue herself as well as Breaking Bad Giancarlo Esposito from *Always Be My Maybe*, starring alongside Randall Park.
Actually, fans were hoping for several more seasons of the show featuring our avian-loving sleuth tackling fresh mysteries each time—an anthology format reminiscent of *Knakes Out*.
Boasting an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and raking in a solid 6.4 million views within just the first four days, it's clear there was strong demand for more.

Sadly, the Shonda Rhimes series will not be returning triumphantly to television as Netflix has canceled it.

There’s no doubt that this production represented a major financial investment for the streaming platform, showcasing the most extensive reconstruction of the White House ever attempted. It spanned seven soundstages and included ten miles of molding, two hundred functional doors, and over one hundred forty-four thousand pounds of flooring materials.
Per Deadline Sources indicate that discussions took place about cutting the budget for a potential second season, but these plans eventually fell through.
Over on Reddit Fans expressed dissatisfaction with the choice.
"That’s disappointing! I really loved her character development. The flashback scenes provided great insight, and I felt there was plenty of potential left for expanding her story even more," shared user runamokamok.
"I ended up enjoying this show way more than expected. It’s too bad it got cancelled, but thankfully we still have a full season with a proper conclusion," SilverRoseBlade commented.

'The Residence is among the greatest series I've seen and accomplished exactly what was needed during its single season. Personally, I doubt they could have surpassed this even if they continued onward. No hard feelings,' stated blurrypink.
“I'm really upset that The Residence was canceled,” ingirksnob concurred.
"Shondaland had better figure out how to rescue The Residence—I’m not ready for this murder mystery era to end!" Pomgrenatecity chimed in.
A small comfort is that the first season’s storyline concludes neatly, offering viewers closure without leaving them hanging on an unresolved and potentially heartbreaking cliffhanger.
In addition to The Residence, this streaming service also features another new series: Pulse A show focusing on a team of emergency room physicians handling one critical situation after another at a medical center in Miami has likewise been canceled.


Meanwhile, Netflix crime drama *No Good Deed* which was released in December featuring Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano, has been put on hold indefinitely.
Netflix has a history of ending television series before their time, often sparking backlash from devoted viewers.

We've never pulled the plug on a hit series. Many of these programs had good intentions but reached only a limited viewership despite requiring substantial investment.
