Lando Norris Was inadvertently hit in the face by a photographer during celebrations for his Formula 1 victory. British Grand Prix victory at Silverstone on Sunday.
The British rider maintained his composure amidst challenging, rainy circumstances and gained advantage from an... Oscar Piastri penalty and Max Verstappen claim victory at his hometown Grand Prix surrounded by jubilant supporters.
McLaren’s driver celebrated enthusiastically after closing the gap to his teammate and title contender Piastri, reducing the difference to only eight points with the season reaching its midpoint.
Nonetheless, the joy was overshadowed by an unfortunate event that occurred shortly after the race ended.
Following a photo session with his team, Norris grabbed his winner's trophy and made his way down the pit lane to the main straight, where thousands of enthusiastic supporters awaited him.
As he got closer, a photographer positioned along the pit wall accidentally lost his footing and tumbled backward into the 25-year-old, hitting him in the face.
The photographer quickly apologized to Norris, who was holding his hand to his face and evidently experiencing discomfort, before he was escorted back to the McLaren pit area by members of the team.
The incident was recorded live by Sky Sports and later became widely shared across various online platforms.
Norris' remarkable day took a disappointing turn at the end, as he secured what could be considered the most significant and emotionally charged victory of his Formula 1 career thus far.
'It holds tremendous significance. After all, topping the charts in front of your home crowd is something truly exceptional,' he remarked during the post-race media briefing.

And as I mentioned in some previous interviews, this is really where everything began for me. It was something I used to watch on television—way back when, so many years ago: Lewis [Hamilton], Jenson [Button], Fernando [Alonso].
I believe it was that incredibly rainy race here back in 2008—that's when my interest in Formula 1 truly began. I remember thinking Lewis won, and there was this image of him driving past crowds of fans who were cheering enthusiastically. The way he interacted with them showed me just how electric the crowd at Silverstone can be, something I've imagined experiencing myself ever since.
And today I had the chance to experience that moment for real and witness it with my very own eyes. It was truly incredible—something really extraordinary.
Many individuals attended—from close relatives like my father, mother, siblings, grandparents on my dad's side, right up to dear friends and extended kinfolk who were all able to be present. Definitely makes this victory feel significantly more meaningful compared to previous ones—absolutely one hundred percent—and winning under such demanding conditions made it even harder too.
