SoBo Girl Dumps $90K US Job for ₹40 Lakh Role in Mumbai – Net Calls It a Masterstroke

Anhadh, a 25-year-old marketing executive based in South Bombay (SoBo), gained online attention after disclosing her monthly income of ₹2.67 lakh. Now, she has shared insights into how she achieved such financial success at an early stage in her profession.

Anhadh shared a viral video where she detailed her monthly spending and revealed an impressive yearly salary of ₹40 lakh. Although many praised her achievements, several viewers questioned whether those figures were believable. This prompted her to open up about her complete journey—from struggling through unpaid internships all the way to landing a well-paid work-from-home position right here in India.

Starting from Zero Rupees in New York City to Earning ₹75 Lakhs Annually

After completing her graduation in 2024, Anhadh relocated to New York City in pursuit of her ideal career opportunity. Her initial experience there was an unremunerated internship at an Indian supermarket, where she handled both branding projects and hands-on duties without receiving a paycheck.

Finally, she secured a real job at a marketing firm, though it wasn’t perfect. Her hourly wage was only $20, which hardly covered living expenses in New York. Following many months of work, she was eventually promoted to a permanent role offering an annual income of $60,000 (approximately ₹51 lakh).

Even so, she remarked, "I was still largely at ground level."

From ₹75 lakh in New York City to ₹40 lakh in Mumbai

In April 2024, she received a more attractive offer of $75,000 per year (approximately ₹64 lakh). However, despite the increased salary, ongoing visa problems and emotional strain led her to decide to go back to India.

Her organization permitted her to keep working from home, revising her pay according to the cost of living in India. Starting from October 2024, she receives an annual income of ₹40 lakh, equivalent to ₹2.67 lakh monthly post-tax.

‘It’s Not All Rainbows’

Anhadh acknowledged that her lifestyle isn’t particularly flashy. She resides with her parents in South Mumbai, which means she doesn’t have to worry about expenses like rent, groceries, or utilities. Over 50% of her income is invested in SIPs, while the remaining portion caters to eating out, personal grooming, and what she calls a "secret stash."

"It's not just sunshine and roses," she remarked, explaining that she intends to discuss both the positives and negatives of living this way in an upcoming video.
