Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer now working as a commentator, has identified his predicted top two teams along with the finalists for the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). As only two games remain this season, competition for securing one of the coveted first-two slots on the leaderboard is intensifying among the four playoff-qualified sides still vying for these positions.
Before the much-anticipated match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), which marks their 69th game of the season, Aakash Chopra has shared his forecasts for the leading teams this season. The ex-opening batsman supported Mumbai Indians along with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to secure the top spots and face each other in the finals of the competition.
Aakash Chopra stated on his YouTube channel that he believes the odds favor Mumbai since their team appears stronger. They seem unstoppable, advancing like an invincible force. In his view, both Mumbai and RCB are likely to end up at the top of the standings, with the final match being between these two teams.
MI had an impressive turnaround this season as they managed to secure only one victory from their initial five games. Nevertheless, they followed up with six consecutive wins and subsequently defeated Delhi Capitals (DC), clinching their eighth triumph which assured them a spot in the playoffs.
The team captained by Hardik Pandya has a great opportunity to secure a spot in the top two by beating Punjab Kings (PBKS). In their previous match held in Jaipur, should MI secure a win, they would ascend to the number one position on the points table and ensure themselves a spot among the top two teams. This achievement would provide them with two opportunities to advance to the finals of the competition.
Conversely, RCB could secure the top spot with a victory in their final league match against LSG. As such, both teams are well-positioned for a top-two finish and will vie for qualification into Qualifier 1 on May 29 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
