Alpine F1 Team CEO Oakes Steps Down Suddenly

Alpine The Formula 1 team has stated that their team principal, Oliver Oakes, has stepped down with immediate effect.

Last July, Oakes joined the Anglo-French team to take over from Bruno Famin and subsequently paired up with executive adviser Flavio Briatore.

However, after just six rounds of the 2025 season, Oakes has stepped down, as stated by the team, with Briatore assuming his responsibilities on an interim basis.

"The BWT Alpine Formula One Team has announced that Oliver Oakes has stepped down from his position as Team Principal," the team stated.

The team has accepted his resignation effective immediately. Starting from today, Flavio Briatore will remain as an Executive Advisor and will take over the responsibilities formerly handled by Oliver Oakes.

The team wishes to express their gratitude to Oliver for his hard work since he came onboard last summer and for his role in assisting the squad clinch sixth place in the 2024 Constructors' Championship. No additional remarks will be made at this time.

During Oakes' tenure at Alpine, the team based in Enstone showed consistent improvement with their F1 vehicles after facing challenges at the beginning of 2024, despite struggling to achieve significant results throughout the season.

Alpine is understood to be close to replacing rookie Jack Doohan with reserve driver Franco Colapinto from next week's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola to partner Pierre Gasly .
