Xi Jinping has congratulated Anthony Albanese During his reelection campaign – mere months after Chinese vessels humiliated Labor through live-fire exercises in the Tasman Sea.
China 'S foreign ministry had already conveyed a cordial message to Mr Albanese following the federal election.' election Earlier this month, stating that "the People's Republic is prepared to collaborate with the newly formed Australian administration."
However, on Tuesday, the Chinese president extended his personal greetings as stated by the Chinese embassy in Australia.
The embassy stated that Xi mentioned he had met with Prime Minister Albanese over the past three years and held extensive talks with him regarding significant matters related to the strategic, comprehensive, and forward-looking aspects of developing China-Australia ties.
These conversations resulted in significant agreements that have offered strategic direction for enhancing and expanding bilateral relations.
'Enhancing collaboration between China and Australia, according to Xi, holds significant importance for attaining mutual growth and fostering global peace and stability.'
Xi also stated he was ready to collaborate with Albanese to steadily progress the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership, providing more advantages to the citizens of both nations, the embassy further noted.
The message from the Chinese president was delivered following the People's Liberation Army Navy embarrassing the former Labor government earlier this year by circling Australia and carrying out live exercises.

In February – two months prior to Mr Albanese beginning his election campaign – Chinese warships conducted live-fire drills 640 kilometers off the coast of New South Wales. These maneuvers led to 49 commercial flights between Australia and New Zealand being rerouted.
During Senate estimates hearings, it came to light that officials from the Australian Defence Force were initially informed about the exercises not by China, but by a Virgin Airlines pilot who overheard communications from the vessels.
The exercise was conducted in international waters, thus not violating international law. However, Mr. Albanese and Defence Minister Richard Marles stated that China had failed to provide adequate notice.
The drills were seen by many as a bold demonstration of China's sea power.
Anne-Marie Brady, a professor at the University of Canterbury proficient in Mandarin and an expert on Chinese domestic and international policies, informed Daily Mail Australia that these exercises serve as an indication of China’s prospective aims.
Ms Brady stated in February that the live-fire drills conducted in the Tasman serve as a warning to both Australia and New Zealand about China’s naval strength and its intention to establish a regular presence in the Southwest Pacific region.
'A consistent enhancement of the Chinese Navy’s capabilities has been observed throughout the South West Pacific region.'
Ms Brady also expressed concern that the United States has remained silent regarding these exercises.
"It is quite concerning that the US hasn't provided any public backing for Australia amid this crisis," she stated.
