
Mara Corday, the showgirl, Playboy Co-star and iconic film celebrity of Tarantula has passed away at the age of 95.
The veteran actress from The Golden Era passed away due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease on February 9th at her residence in Valencia, California, as reported by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
The reason for her demise was stated on a death certificate acquired by The Washington Post .
Born on January 3, 1930, in Santa Monica, Marilyn Joan Watts started her career as a showgirl at the Earl Carroll Theatre on Sunset Boulevard during her teenage years, adopting her stage name there. Additionally, she was Playboy was named as Playboy magazine's October 1958 Playmate of the Month.
After appearing in numerous minor parts in low-budget films, Corday gained recognition with her role in the 1955 science fiction cult favorite directed by Jack Arnold. Tarantula , co-starring alongside John Agar and Leo G. Carroll.
Corday also made appearances in science fiction productions. The Black Scorpion (1957) and The Giant Claw (1957), along with Westerns such as Drums Across the River (1954), The Man from Bitter Ridge (1955) and Man Without a Star (1955).
After her spouse Richard Long passed away in 1974, whom she had met during the production of their 1954 movie, Playgirl , Corday’s friend and Tarantula Clint Eastwood, who co-starred with her, assisted in reviving her career through roles in his films. The Gauntlet (1977), Sudden Impact (1983), Pink Cadillac (1989) and The Rookie (1990).
