Santos tops Cynthia Villar in Las Piñas congressional race

Based on the unofficial tally from the Commission on Elections, independent candidate Mark Anthony Santos has outpaced Senator Cynthia Villar in the contest for Las Piñas City's sole congressional seat.

At 11:24 p.m., with all 100% of the votes counted in the city, Santos secured 115,757 votes compared to Villar’s 83,975 votes.

In the meantime, Louie Redoble followed closely in third place with 36,838 votes, while Barry Tayam secured 9,768 votes.

Santos is currently a councilor in Las Piñas City.

At the same time, Villar’s niece and nephew competed for the position of mayor.

April Aguilar is set to replace his mother, Imelda, as the city mayor with 124,780. Trailing behind is her cousin Carlo Aguilar with 85,324.

Imelda is expected to continue working for the city but as a vice mayor with 131,404 votes. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
