Top Tech Gems from Computex: Budget-Friendly Acer Smart Ring, Innovative Asus Split Keyboard, and the MSI Claw A8

The Computex technology expo in Taipei wrapped up on Friday following a jam-packed week of bizarre yet amazing new product unveilings.

AxofaNext dedicated the entire week to scouring the exhibition for the most functional, attractive, and let’s be honest, the quirkiest technology unveilings.

These were the highlights from the exhibition floor.

Handheld gaming

Gaming plays a huge role at Computex, thus, as expected, there were numerous exhibits showcasing this aspect.

A significant amount of attention has been garnered by MSI’s enhanced Windows PC handheld console, known as the Claw A8 featuring the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor.

Available in a range of vibrant hues, this device features an integrated front-facing camera and microphone, giving players the flexibility to forego using a headset.

This device comes equipped with an impressive 80Wh battery and features a spacious display. Additionally, it appears to be the initial portable unit to utilize the premium Z2 Extreme chipset, along with ample amounts of RAM.

There is still no announced launch date, but this development coincides with the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2.

A split keyboard

Although split keyboards aren't entirely novel, one created explicitly for gamers is.

At the exhibition in Taipei, Asus showcased its ROG Falcata, a wireless keyboard designed with magnetic connectivity for easy attachment and detachment.

The precise aim of this design is to provide gamers with additional room for their mice movements. Gamers find the right side of the keyboard less relevant since they primarily use the W, A, S, and D keys.

Alternatively, if it's not intended for gaming, you can simply disconnect both sides for a more comfortable typing experience.

The launch date has been scheduled for summer, however, the pricing remains undisclosed as of now.

The affordable smart ring

Although smart rings tend to come with a higher price tag (consider Samsung’s Galaxy Ring, which sells for approximately €449), Ultrahuman’s premium 18-carat gold ring At approximately €2,000, Acer presents a more modest option.

The firm exhibited a titanium smart ring priced at $199 (€175). Unlike numerous other firms, this device does not require a subscription.

The ring is available in either black or rose gold and offers a battery life spanning four days. It displays health information including your heart rate, sleep quality, and blood oxygen levels.

It will be up for sale this summer.

A beautiful laptop lid

The tech behemoth MSI displayed a stunning laptop lid that appears as though it was intricately hand-painted.

MSI collaborated with the Japanese art studio Okadayo to produce a limited-edition lacquered print laptop.

The artwork can similarly be applied to a computer mouse.

The initial design features Hokusai’s famous work, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. For now, MSI plans to manufacture just a few hundred units each month due to the additional processes needed to apply this artwork during production.

All the computer cases

A key highlight at Computex was the extent of innovation displayed, with an abundance of strikingly attractive yet unconventional computer case designs being particularly noteworthy.

A lot of these options featured vibrant designs with various themes, while some even included integrated beer and wine taps. Ultimately, it boils down to individual taste.
