In a major advancement for island-to-island travel within the Philippines, Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corp. (APFC), which runs FastCat ferries, has recently received five new RoPax ships.
This well-timed expansion, which occurred during Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s recent state visit, aims to significantly boost FastCat's offerings and connections. It will notably improve services linking Mindoro, Palawan, Samar to Leyte, as well as introduce new routes across Mindanao.
The delivery of these essential ships was handled by Singapore-based Greenbay Marine, which specializes in complete marine services such as ship construction, vessel repairs, and offshore engineering.
This development further underscores the strong bilateral ties between Singapore and the Philippines, reaffirmed during Prime Minister Wong's visit, which commenced last Wednesday.
APFC President and CEO Christopher Pastrana highlighted the significant impact of the recent enhancements, noting, "These developments will undoubtedly facilitate the creation of additional locations and connect islands for transporting both travelers and goods to various destinations."
The APFC has consistently been acknowledged for spearheading significant advancements in local transport throughout the Philippines. With the introduction of these modern RoPax ferries, they aim to strengthen their dedication to enhancing sea travel and making it easier to move individuals and cargo between locations.
