Russia carried out yet another large-scale missile and drone assault on Ukraine during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, with specific focus on hitting Kyiv and Odesa.
On Tuesday morning, Ukraine's Air Defense forces announced that they managed to intercept 284 out of 322 aerial targets fired by Moscow.
Yesterday evening, Russia employed 315 Shahed-class attack unmanned aerial vehicles, multiple varieties of deceptive drone units, two KN-23 ballistic missiles, along with five Iskander-K cruise missiles during their assault.
The main focus was on capturing the Ukrainian capital.
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, stated that emergency services were operating across multiple areas following the assault.
The Kyiv administration alerted citizens early Tuesday morning, informing them about an incoming group of drones approaching the city and advising everyone to stay inside bomb shelters for safety.
In southern Ukraine, Odesas region suffered hits overnight as well, resulting in two fatalities. According to the Odesa governor, the administration building of an emergency medical facility was entirely demolished, and a maternity hospital sustained damage during the Russian assault.
The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated that this was "one of the biggest assaults on Kyiv." He also mentioned that regions including Odesa, Dnipro, and Chernihiv were likewise under attack.
He mentioned that among the seven missiles fired by Russia, two were identified as North Korean-produced ballistic missiles.
"It’s crucial that the reaction to this and other comparable Russian assaults isn’t indifference from the global community, but rather decisive measures,” stated Zelenskyy.
Initiative taken by America, possessing the capability to compel Russia towards tranquility. Effort exerted by Europe, left with no choice but to assert itself firmly. Actions undertaken by global entities advocating for diplomatic solutions and cessation of hostilities—actions disregarded by Russia.
"Strong pressure is necessary for the purpose of achieving peace," he concluded.
The fresh aerial assault occurred merely one day following Russia’s launch of a record-breaking 499 drones and missiles against Ukraine on Monday evening.
