KRISTIAN Rome Tacbian, a fourth-year architecture student from the University of Santo Tomas, secured 4th place at the 13th Asian Contest of Architectural Rookie’s Award (ACARA), which was conducted at Danang Architecture University (DAU) in Vietnam.
Tacbian was among the 20 participants hailing from 13 different nations who worked alongside chosen DAU students to create design proposals aimed at revitalizing both ends of the Trang Thi Ly Bridge over the Han River.
This signified the continuation of their participation for the second successive year in the renowned contest by the UST College of Architecture.
The competition took place on the final day of the three-day event and included student presentations evaluated by a panel consisting of renowned Asian architects, educators, and representatives from the Asia United Architecture Association (AUA). This group has organized Acara for over 13 years.
Tacbian’s showcase of his project, named "Oddities," resulted in an internship opportunity with Bio-architecture Formosana in Taiwan.
The inauguration took place on the initial day with a ceremony, which was then succeeded by a site visit acting as the core activity for the student workshop held over the following days.
The upcoming Acara event will take place in China.
